To Recycle / Co-process old, discarded footwear in an Eco-Friendly manner

Implementing partner – Aasra Welfare Association – AWA

SDG covered: 12 – Responsible Production and Consumption & 13 – Climate Action.

Background – In 2015, AWA was started with the support of MCGM. As on date, they collect, process, and recycle 300-350 Tons of dry waste per month.

Project objective – To run a pilot project for three months by creating a value chain (including eco-friendly disposal) for monthly 100 tons of old, discarded footwear through different stakeholders’ and to work towards the upliftment of Safai Sathi’s.

Project status – Pilot project since implemented

To build a Cancer Hospital in Mumbai

Implementing partner – CanCare Trust (Head and Neck Cancer Institute of India – HNCII)

SDG covered: 3 – Good Health and Well Being.

Background – It is a public charitable trust, founded in 1997 by three colleagues at the Tata Memorial Hospital. Its main program has been to provide financial assistance to needy cancer patients and to reach out to the families of cancer patients, particularly for their children’s education.

Project objective – They are building a 93 bedded Head & Neck Cancer Hospital in Mumbai. Its total project cost is of Rs.240 crores and we have funded a part its CAPEX.

Project status – Ongoing. Hospital expected to be commissioned in May 2023

To help under privileged children excel in their academic life

Implementing partner – Fidai Girls Educational Institute – FGEI

SDG covered: 4 – Quality Education.

Background – Since 1953, FGEI has been supporting the education cause of the children from the economically weaker section families of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Project objective – To help children of under privileged families and or those who are having health or marital issues or with no access to education of Maharashtra and Gujarat region by providing them an environment to excel in their academic life.

Project status – Implemented.

To refurbish disposed of discarded footwear and distribute these to needy students

Implementing partner – Greensole Foundation

SDG covered:13 – Climate Action.

Background – Greensole gives discarded shoes a second life by refurbishing them to comfortable footwear and providing them to the people in need, contributing to environmental good.

Project objective – To distribute 12,500 recycled footwear pairs made from old, discarded footwear to the less fortunate rural school children from the states of Gujarat and Odisha.

Project status – Implemented

To provide access to quality education to under privileged girl children

Implementing partner – K. C Mahindra Education Trust – Nanhi Kalli

SDG covered: 4 – Quality Education.

Background – This project was started in 1996 by Anand Mahindra. They are currently working in 9 states of India and have supported more than 4.50 lacs Nanhi Kali’s so far.

Project objective – To provide access to quality education to 500 underprivileged girls from Bharuch and help them complete schooling with dignity

Project status – Implemented

To transform learning, teaching, and leading school improvement in Bihar

Implementing partner – Mantra Social Services

SDG covered: 4 – Quality Education

Background – Mantra works towards the vision of holistic development of society – the key component being quality and equity in education.

Project objective – Mission Vriddhi is the project designed by Mantra to transform learning, teaching, and leading school improvement in Bihar. This project would majorly stress on Strengthening DIETs (District Institutes of Education and Training) and Improving FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy).

Project status – Implemented

To provide on the job training to youth under NEEM scheme launched by AICTE and GOI

Implementing partner – TeamLease Education Foundation – TLEF

SDG covered: 4 – Quality Education and 2 – Zero Hunger.

Background – TLEF is promoted by TeamLease Services Ltd., which is India’s largest staffing solution company with a motto of ‘Putting India to Work’. TeamLease has a track record of hiring 1 person every 5 minutes since last 5 years.

Project objective – To increase the employability quotient of the 150 trainees (+ or – 10%) (unemployed youth) by providing them practical exposure through on-the-job training at Metro Brands Ltd, thus enhancing their skills and making them employable.

Project status – Implemented.

To provide on the job training to youth under NAP scheme launched by MSDE, GOI

Implementing partner – Direct implementation of NAPS by Metro Brands Ltd under the Apprentices Act, 1961. TeamLease Skills University – TLSU would be supporting us to comply as per Apprentices Act.

SDG covered: 4 – Quality Education and 2 – Zero Hunger.

Background – TeamLease is on a mission to enable all individuals to acquire skills and capabilities, prepare them to get appropriate employment and ensure their competitiveness in National and International work environment.

To develop leadership skills in underserved adolescents

Implementing partner – Pragatee Foundation ‘Enabling Leadership’

SDG covered: 4 – Quality Education.

Background – In India, Enabling Leadership runs its projects – through Pragatee Foundation. Their mission is to foster a generation of leaders by working with adolescents from under-served backgrounds.

Project objective – To develop leadership skills in 230 underserved adolescents, with a focus on breaking gender stereotypes, gender mainstreaming and equipping these children with the leadership and life skills to be problem solvers and role models.

Project status – Implemented.

To fund treatment cost of Economically Weaker Section and critically ill patients

Implementing partner – Prince Aly Khan Hospital – PAKH.

SDG covered: 3 – Good Health and Well Being.

Background – Prince Aly Khan Hospital functions within the framework of the Aga Khan Development Network, which is committed towards improving the health and living conditions of people in developing countries. It has 201 in-patient beds, a four-room operation theatre complex, an intensive care unit, an intensive cardiac care unit, a neonatal ICU, a renal dialysis unit and state-of -the -art facilities in every department.

Project objective – To fund medical treatment of economically weaker section (EWS) patients suffering from critical illnesses.

Build Leadership skills in Social Entrepreneurs

Implementing partner – Social Entrepreneurs Foundation India – UnLtd India

SDG covered: 4 – Quality Education

Background – UnLtd India supports early-stage Social Entrepreneurs in India to nurture their ideas and grow as true artists of change.

Project objective – To Support and Grow 32 Social Entrepreneurs in leadership skills through incubation support, immersive residential workshops, capacity building and increasing the network of their supporters.

Project status – Implemented.

To empower Mumbai Railway Station based Shoe Shiners

Implementing partner – Sociallab Ventures Pvt Ltd (TSL)

SDG covered: 1 – No Poverty.

Background – The Social Lab (TSL) is a startup and niche purpose driven organization that envisages social change through management techniques to manifest social changes that is equitable and sustainable for all participants.

Project objective – To empower 150 Mumbai Railway Station based Shoe Shiners covering the aspects of their Livelihood, Healthcare, and Financial Literacy.
