OUR RUNNING PROJECTS

 

To provide on the job training to youth under NAP scheme launched by MSDE, GOI

Implementing partner – Direct implementation of NAPS by Metro Brands Ltd under the Apprentices Act, 1961. TeamLease Skills University – TLSU is supporting us to comply as per Apprentices Act.

SDG covered: 4 – Quality Education and 2 – Zero Hunger.

Background – TeamLease is on a mission to enable all individuals to acquire skills and capabilities, prepare them to get appropriate employment and ensure their competitiveness in National and International work environment.

Project objective – To increase the employability quotient of trainees (unemployed youth) by providing them with practical exposure through on-the-job training at Metro Brands Ltd, thus enhancing their skills and making them employable.

Project status – Under implementation.

To Recycle / Co-process old, discarded footwear in an Eco-Friendly manner

Implementing partner – The Shakti Plastic Industries – TSPI

SDG covered: 12 – Responsible Production and Consumption & 13 – Climate Action.

Background – TSPI is a 50-year-old Mumbai based company that recycles all types of plastic waste, and one of the leading recyclers of polymer waste in India. They are Producer Responsibility Organization PRO authorized by CPCB / SPCB.

Project objective – To run a project for collection, sorting, transportation, processing (Recycling & Pyrolysis) and co-processing of old, discarded, footwear – ODF in an eco-friendly manner

Project status – Under implementation

To enroll beneficiaries from cobbler community in various GOI sponsored benefit schemes

Implementing partner – Renovate India – RI

SDG covered: 1 – No Poverty

Background – Renovate India is a Social Enterprise which works mainly for grassroots Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) helping in their capacity building, documentation, research service, CSR project development & management service.

Project objective – To create awareness, educate, convince, handhold and enroll beneficiaries from the cobbler community spread across Mumbai Metropolitan Region and their family members in various GOI sponsored benefit schemes.

Project status – Under implementation

To Recycle / Co-process old, discarded footwear in an Eco-Friendly manner.

Implementing partner – Aasra Welfare Association – AWA

SDG covered: 12 – Responsible Production and Consumption & 13 – Climate Action.

Background – In 2015, AWA was started with the support of MCGM. As on date, they collect, process, and recycle 300-350 Tons of dry waste per month.

Project objective – To run a project creating a value chain (including eco-friendly disposal) of old, discarded footwear through different stakeholders’ and to work towards the upliftment of Safai Sathi’s.
